Lamont Roach may have lost out on a rematch with Gervonta Davis for the time being, but he’s got his next assignment as he’s formally been announced to be taking on WBC interim champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’
Cruz in a super lightweight contest on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas.
Taking to the podium to talk about this upcoming fight, Roach says that he knew he’d be back in the spotlight and that he’s looking to bring the action in what he anticipates will be a good fight for fans.
“I told you guys you’ll be seeing a lot of me,” Roach said. “Coming in from my last fight leading all the way up until the match itself, I told you guys what I’m here to do. I want to bring boxing back, I want to bring old school boxing back. I want to bring boxing back to its glory days and me accepting this fight with Pitbull Cruz in another weight class, it just shows that I’m here and I’m definitely going to give you guys a banger.
“Pitbull Cruz is a hell of a fighter, explosive fighter, fighter you guys like to see, and I’m definitely a great dance partner to go along with him and compliment his style.”
Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) is currently coming off a hotly disputed draw with Gervonta Davis back in March in his highest profile fight to date, while Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) has won two straight since dropping a decision to Jose Valenzuela over a year ago.
