Robin Roefs: 8/10
Maybe could have done better with Chelsea’s goal which went underneath him and his distribution was a little off today but otherwise was as reliable as ever. Made saves you’d expect him to make but was always
in the right place to make them and was confident when coming for balls into the box.
Trai Hume: 8/10
Really good on the ball today and although was pushed a little bit more when Neto switched to his side, he stood up to the threat.
Nordi Mukiele: 8/10
Beaten a little too easily by Garnacho for the early goal but after that was his usual self, dominant on and off the ball and the first goal came from his long throw.
Dan Ballard: 9/10
Absolutely bullied Marc Guiu all afternoon, dominant in the air but was also very good on the ball today, made a number of good passes to get out of the Chelsea press. Probably should have scored in the first minute with a free header though.
Reinildo: 9/10
Completely shut down Chelsea’s right wing, absolutely dominated that side of the pitch.
Granit Xhaka (C): 9/10
A real captain’s performance, orchestrated the team, brilliant on the ball and was always well positioned to help out defensively. Even almost won it himself but for an important late block.
Noah Sadiki: 9/10
Had one error when he found himself underneath a long ball but otherwise was great and more than matched his more expensive opponents.
Lutsharel Geertruida: 8/10
Stepped in seamlessly for the injured Alderete, was comfortable on the ball and even got involved with the winner with a great ball over the top for Brobbey to run onto. Did dally on the ball at one point in the first half but was saved by an offside.
Bertrand Traore: 7/10
Had a big hand in the goal after his goal bound shot was deflected by Reinildo into Isidor’s path. Had another effort where he cut inside and tested the goalkeeper but also worked really hard today and gave us an outlet to get up the pitch.
Enzo Le Fee: 8/10
Worked so hard off the ball, with a number of good tackles and bailed Sadiki out after the midfielder was caught underneath the ball on a break. Went close with a free kick and played a couple of good balls down the channel to create half chances for Xhaka and Isidor.
Wilson Isidor: 7/10
Scored a real poachers goal from a Mukiele thrown in and caused Chelsea problems with his willing running and hard work.
Substitutes
Chemsdine Talbi: 8/10
Came on and changed the game, gave us more attacking impetus and put one great cross in for Brobbey and then won it in injury time with a composed finish.
Brian Brobbey: 7/10
Made a great late run to get in behind but then held the ball up really well until Talbi arrvied for the winner.
Chris Rigg: 7/10
Came on to play on the right and put a real shift in during his short time on the pitch.
Man of the Match: Dan Ballard
Everyone played well today but my man of the match is Dan Ballard who gave us the platform to go and win it. Was like a brick wall defensively, completely ran over Guiu and Pedro up top for Chelsea, was a threat at the other end from set pieces and looked really composed on the ball.
