The Miami Dolphins are heading north this week to face the Atlanta Falcons. Despite the Falcons’ 3-3 record, few (meaning almost none) fans or talking heads give the Dolphins a chance to win this afternoon.
As of the writing of this post, Miami is a full touchdown underdog according to the oddsmakers, and that might be generous. Much of the negativity, particularly that coming from the fan base, is more than justified. With a record of 1-6 and a loss to one of the NFL’s worst and dysfunctional teams, the Cleveland Browns, last week, it’s understandable that fans are calling for significant changes within the organization much sooner rather than later.
One would have to believe that if head coach Mike McDaniel and/or general manager Chris Grier have any hope of keeping their jobs beyond this season, the Dolphins will need to go on a very unexpected winning streak. With the next two games, following Atlanta, against the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills, it would seem any turnaround would have to begin this week with a Phins upset win over the Falcons in Atlanta. Can the team pull off the victory today, giving the fans hope going forward, or will we get much of the same horrible play from our Phins?
