The New Orleans Saints are back home in the Caesars Superdome as they host NFC South rival Tampa Bay on Sunday. Here’s a look at what either outcome would mean for Kellen Moore’s team.
If the Saints win
A victory on Sunday
would be a considerable upset; although the Bucs fell short against the Lions on Monday Night Football, they’ve proven to be one of the conference’s best teams. Despite their growing list of injuries – including, most recently, Mike Evans – Tampa Bay is a clear favorite here.
Strange things can happen in divisional matchups. If the Saints offense can put together for 60 minutes the type of flashes we’ve seen in certain moments of games, there’s every chance they can pull this one off in front of a home crowd. But they can’t afford to take almost a whole half of football before showing any signs of life, as they just did in Chicago.
If the Saints lose
A defeat in this one won’t surprise anyone. Nonetheless, no one enjoys losing, especially not against this opponent. The 2026 NFL Draft is shaping up to be massive for this organization; a loss on Sunday will only shift more eyeballs in its direction, no matter how early in the season we may be.
The Saints haven’t been totally undone since Week 3 in Seattle. At a minimum, they’ll be looking to continue that trend.
