If you thought AEW Collision Fairway To Hell (May 9, 2026) would be an easy breezy one-hour special, well, think again. AEW jam-packed the episode dropping tons of news nuggets. Will Ospreay’s next match is revealed, the Owen Hart tournament brackets will be announced, Chris Jericho has more partners for Stadium Stampede, Thekla’s PPV title defense is against three former champions, Divine Dominion have a new eliminator challenge to find contenders, and Konosuke Takeshita is taking Kazuchika Okada’s
spot in the upcoming world title bout. Not to mention two championship contests on the episode, and one of which crowned a new titleholder. So much news!
Let’s hit this in bullet points.
- Will Ospreay is medically cleared to compete, and he will return to the ring against Ace Austin on Dynamite. Ospreay last wrestled in AEW on April 22 when Mark Davis bludgeoned his neck to a doctor stoppage.
- Speaking of Mark Davis, he won the AEW National Championship from Jack Perry. Ricochet ran interference to hit Perry with a golf club. Davis added a piledriver to close the victory.
- Ricochet’s meddling led to Perry teaming with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega to volunteer as partners for Chris Jericho in Stadium Stampede at Double or Nothing. Don Callis offered his Family to fill out the rest of Ricochet’s team. I believe that makes the match 7-on-7 along with the Hurt Syndicate and Gates of Agony in the mix.
- Thekla will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship in a four-way battle against Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, and Jaime Hayter at Double or Nothing.
- Divine Dominion don’t see anyone able to challenge them for the AEW Women’s World Championship, so they are making it easier. Megan Bayne and Lena Kross are starting a five-minute eliminator challenge. Anyone who lasts to the time limit will be granted a shot at gold. Ruthie Slay and Rachel Ley were promptly destroyed in 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Divine Dominion barely broke a sweat.
- The Owen Hart tournament brackets will be announced on Dynamite.
- Darby Allin defeated PAC in a wild match to retain the AEW World Championship. Kazuchika Okada was supposed to receive the next crack on Dynamite, however, the Rainmaker is tending to personal matters in Japan. Don Callis selected Konosuke Takeshita to fill in for the world title bout. Also, watch this clip if you haven’t already. PAC threw Allin off the balcony crashing through tables.
