Fulltime Thoughts – Everton laboured early on, but won pretty comfortably in the end with two well-taken goals from Tarkowski and Dewsbury-Hall. First home win since early December, three whole months ago.
90+8’ – Nope, we’re still playing it seems like. Burnley win a corner now. Outswinger by Ward-Prowse, not cleared well, ball back into the box and Foster flicks a ball goalwards.. Pickford with another stunning save!! Wow, what quick reactions! He maintains the clean sheet as the final whistle goes,
Everton win 2-0.
90+6’ – Dibling turns Ward-Prowse and is fouled, should be the last action of the evening.
90+4’ – Dibling gets into a cul-de-sac with three Burnley players and they break with pace, Iroegbunam is pulled down and the foul goes the other way.
90+2 – Anthony gets free of JOB and tries a shot from distance, well over.
With Iliman Ndiaye cramping up, Tyler Dibling is going to get a few minutes.
90’ – Burnley win a long throw by the corner flag with Barnes putting himself about in the Everton box. Barry and Myko get in each other’s way, and it’s a corner.
Garner heads it away, and there will be six plus minutes to be added on here.
88’ – “Spirit of the Blues” rings out at the ground for the first time tonight.
87’ – Another couple of subs for the Blues with Dwight McNeil getting a big round of applause from the crowd, as does Idrissa Gueye, with Tyrique George and Tim Iroegbunam coming on.
85’ – Ndiaye and Barry making a right nuisance of themselves in the Burnley box, but can’t quite fashion a shooting opportunity.
82’ – Michael Keane and Thierno Barry have been waiting for well over five minutes to come on, and finally the ball goes out of play. It’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Beto coming off.
Barnes on for the visitors, with Ugochukwu off. He’ll be heading straight for the Everton box for an aerial ball or two in.
80’ – Now McNeil in space on the left, tries to pick out Beto, comes off a defender and then hits the striker before Dubravka falls on it.
Now McNeil on a break on the right, and plays in Beto in the right channel, but the striker was actually headed towards the penalty spot and the chance is wasted.
79’ – Myko rare foray forward, plays in a good cross into the six-yard box headed on, now Ndiaye wriggles free on the other side and puts in a wonderful low cross, Dubravka bravely takes the ball off Gana’s foot two yards out.
Burnley finally muster a shot on goal, rolled at Pickford who falls on it dramatically.
75’ – KDH fouled now just outside the box, somewhat central, a shade to the right. Garner backheels it for a KDH shot, Dubravka punches it away and it comes so close to Beto before Burnley hook it away for a corner.
Garner inswinger, low and headed away.
74’ – Ooooh! Gana! Does so well winning the ball just outside the Burnley box, and the curls a shot towards the far corner, it beats Dubravka all hands up.. and comes off the top of the crossbar! So close!
70’ – KDH – Beto – Ndiaye all combine beautifully down the left, but nothing comes of it eventually.
Still no signs of a sub for Everton, Hannibal comes off for Burnley with Laurent on.
65’ – Beto pulled down as he attempts to break away in his own half, and it’s a booking for Humphreys.
62’ – Beautiful run by McNeil down the right, just can’t find a teammate at the edge of the box. He looks gassed now.
60’ – McNeil does well on the right, maintains possession as he cuts into the middle, finds Ndiaye out wide and he slips in Dewsbury-Hall… goal!! KDH dinks a finish past a sliding Dubravka, no chance of an offside and Everton now lead 2-0.
57’ – Now Foster wins a corner on the Everton right, and two changes coming on for the visitors, with Ward-Prowse and Tchaouna on. And it’s going to be setpiece specialist Ward-Prowse to take it, inswinger low and it’s met by a Burnley head and goes out, goalkick.
56’ – Everton slack in the back again! Myko poor pass to Pickford and the goalie has to react very quickly to save the situation.
54’ – KDH brilliantly nicks the ball in the middle and the Blues set off on a counter, Gana holds the ball and holds the ball and still keeps it, and then plays in Ndiaye who slots home at the far post but he’s offside. Gueye really should have given him the ball earlier and he’s being reminded of that by Ndiaye too.
52’ – Ndiaye and KDH combine, latter puts a cross into the box, Beto and Esteve go for it, and the defender does enough to disrupt Beto and the ball goes over and lands on the roof of the net.
Looks to have gotten jabbed in the eye, but he’s okay to continue.
51’ – Woof. Poor back pass from KDH to Tarky almost got the Blues in trouble, luckily the ball ricocheted away from Anthony.
49’ – It’s more of the same from the first half so far, though the visitors have had more possession so far.
Another Walker long throw into the box, takes three headed attempts before the Blues can get it cleared.
46’ – The final strains of “Grand Old Team” fade away as Burnley kick off the second half. No changes to either side.
Halftime Thoughts – Everton have dominated possession but haven’t created too many chances with it. That said, they will have calmed the antsy crowd down a bit with the go-ahead goal, but will need more goals before they can relax.
45+5’ – Ndiaye goes jinking in, goes down on the edge of the box, that was never a foul, and VAR agrees.
Everton keep up the pressure with a Myko long throw, half-cleared and McNeil’s weak shot blocked.
Burnley scramble the ball out for another corner but the ref saves them with the halftime whistle.
45+2’ – Freekick on the left. Garner skims the wall, Branthwaite flick goalwards and Dubravka punches clear! That was a real chance, straight at the goalie though. Punched out to KDH, shot blocked for a corner.

45’ – Quick counter down the left through Gana and Ndiaye, but they can’t make enough space to get the ball into the box.
Three plus minutes to be added on here, mostly for the Hannibal and Dubravka injuries.
43’ – Long throw into the box from Walker dealt with very well by the Blues.
Beto twisting and turning and runs into KDH who was trying to take the ball and go into space. KDH fouls a Burnley player and is lucky to not be booked.
40’ – That goal has forced the Clarets to push up a bit more, and there are spaces opening up in the Burnley half.
O’Brien makes a mistake in possession in his own half but the visitors are unable to create anything from that.
37’ – Beto fouled. Freekick taken short and oooh! It comes to KDH and he fires well over.
And now he plays Beto in, but a last-ditch tackle in the box takes the ball away from the striker.
35’ – Now Burnley have a freekick on a rare foray forward. Hannibal from the midfield, direct to Pickford who collects easily.
31’ – McNeil fouled on the edge of the attacking third. Garner will put this into the box, Dubravka doesn’t come out and Tarkowski easily nods it home at the far post! First shot on target, and it’s a goal!! VAR reviews for offside, and it’s good, 1-0 to the Toffees!
28’ – Mykolenko runs onto a deep ball and Walker puts it out for a corner, again on the left. Good one this time, Tarkowski and Dubravka bounce off each other and it falls to McNeil, he’s setting up to pass it back but ref Tim Robinson gives a foul. Dunno about that, Tarky had as much right to go for the ball as the goalie there.
27’ – Burnley’s first sustained spell of possession in the Everton half comes to nothing.
25’ – Beto comes to collect the ball and finds Ndiaye who can run at the backline, makes space for a shot but it’s blocked. He’s looking up for it today.
20’ – Possession is 70% Everton, which is odd for the Toffees, but they haven’t fashioned much in the form of chances there.
Bit of an odd play there. Humphreys was letting the ball roll out, Ndiaye nipped in to try steal it but Dubravka came sliding across and completely misses the ball and collides with the Everton forward and the defender hoofs it away. Didn’t really look like a foul, and VAR is not reviewing it either. The goalie does seem to have hurt himself in the ankle and is receiving attention.
19’ – A long spell of possession finally sees Ndiaye cut in from the left, and he wins a corner. Garner again, headed away, McNeil puts it back in the crowd, comes out to Dewsbury-Hall but he’s leaning back and that was always going over.
17’ – Garner nicks the ball in the middle and finds KDH.. and he circles back and that gets the fans irritated. There was a chance to move the ball forward quickly.
15’ – Very quiet here. The fans are just waiting with bated breath for something to happen, Everton are just pushing the ball side-to-side, and the visitors are happy to hold them at arm’s length.
12’ – Gana wins a freekick by the sideline in front of the managers. McNeil swings it into the box, but Dubravka comes out to take it cleanly.
O’Brien makes his first foray forward and puts in a cross, well defended by Burnley.
10’ – Ndiaye has started off on the left, but is being very dynamic on the overloads on the right.
7 – Beto wins another corner, same side. Taken short and quick, comes out to Gana for a shot but he muffs it and the threat passes.
6’ – Beto wins a corner on the Everton left. Garner to deliver, a lowish one like the one Branthwaite scored from over the weekend, and he was the closest to it, but cleared.
2’ – Everton controlled possession for nearly two minutes before a cross into the box was cut out and immediately Foster set off on a counter, running fifty yards with the ball before dragging a shot wide. Expect to see lots more of this.
1’ – Garner gets proceedings underway, the Blues are attacking the South Stand to our right first. KDH launches an up-and-under and Burnley are surprised but clear.
The siren has gone off, Z-Cars rings out as the players make their way out to the pitch. Forever Everton being blared out with fans singing and clapping along.

Match Preview
Everton are the third best team in the league away behind only Arsenal and Manchester City (on goal difference), but are a miserable 14th-best at home in their new digs at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tonight they welcome Burnley who are fighting hard from their 19th spot in the table to avoid relegation. They gave the Blues a real fight at Turf Moor and will not let up today either. Scott Parker has been taking an aggressive approach and knows his side have a real chance on Merseyside where Everton continue to fall flat on their faces.
David Moyes admitted during his pre-game press conference that the Blues end up getting caught out pushing forward going for wins at home, and have also been susceptible to setpieces too. If they can jump into an early lead tonight then they can sit back in a mid-block and pick off the Clarets, looking to repair their awful run of just two points in their last six home games.

Last Meeting
The two sides had fought out a 0-0 stalemate at Turf Moor two days after Christmas. Before that, the Toffees had done the double over Burnley with Sean Dyche in charge of the Blues in the 23-24 season, winning 2-0 away (Amadou Onana and Michael Keane scoring against his former club), and then 1-0 at home with Dominic Calvert-Lewin grabbing the winner.
