Today is the day where many of us are opening gifts found under the Christmas tree. Eager with anticipation, children especially are giddy with delight as they tear into their loot, unwrapping things they have begged for and talked about for weeks on end.
It’s also the day where we see various Phillies getting gifts as well! We here at The Good Phight have found different gifts for a few players that are on the roster. They have been good boys this year and deserve a little something from us. Here
are just a few of those gifts.
For Tanner Banks: a gallon-size container of Tylenol Extra Strength
Because the Phillies have decided to move on from Matt Strahm, one of their left handed pitchers they liked to use in leveraged situations, that forces the roles of both Banks and Jose Alvarado to expand a bit. Alvarado is used to it – he’s been the team’s closer before. With Banks, he hasn’t really been used in the same kind of situations that Strahm was counted on in the past, so he’ll probably be throwing a lot more innings, mostly of the high stress variety, than he has in the past.
For Bryce Harper: a biography of Louis Pasteur
Listen, I’m really glad that our highest paid player is taking his health seriously. The EBBO thing, alright, kinda kooky, but who am I to judge?
However, the whole unpasteurized milk thing?
Bryce. Baby. Read this book, you’ll be blown away at the advances medical research has made in the past 150 years.
For Justin Crawford: a protractor
Because buddy, are you going to hear a lot about angles this year, your first with the Phillies.
A lot….
For Kyle Schwarber: a copy of Tom Emanski’s fielding videos copied to Google Drive
When re-signed, it was assumed that Schwarber would and should take the majority of his plate appearances from the DH position. That’s why they signed him to all those precious dollars. However, would it hurt him to make a few appearances at first base again, maybe to give his friend Bryce Harper a day or two at DH without the consequences of having to play first base that day weighing on his conscience? You never know, maybe the videos will help Schwarber take off and become something of a competent first baseman!
It worked for Fred McGriff and he’s a Hall of Famer!
For Garrett Stubbs: a Heritage’s milk club card
Where I live, there is a Heritage’s store around the corner where we get our gallon of milk a week. Each time you get a gallon, they punch a card where if you get twelve of them, you get a free gallon. Maybe this will encourage Stubbs to buy 2% milk instead of……the alternative.
Merry Christmas to all!
