The Dodgers’ Double-A affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers, began their 3-game Division Series with a loss, and so far, the Dodgers’ affiliates are 0-3 in the postseason.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Oklahoma City Comets scored the first five runs in this game and used seven pitchers to hang on, beating the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) 7-5. Luken Baker hit his fifth home run in his last eight games, and Esteury Ruiz had two hits, including his 15th homer, for the Comets.
Double-A Tulsa
The Tulsa Drillers lost the
first game of their Division Series to the Springfield Cardinals 3-1. Springfield starter Ixan Henderson outpitched Drillers starter Jackson Ferris, pitching six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and no walks. Ferris pitched four innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and four walks. Five shutout, one-hit innings by three Tulsa relievers went to waste when the Drillers could only put up a single run. The Drillers did have a chance to steal the game. Down 3-1 in the ninth with two out, they had the bases loaded, Zach Ehrhard at the plate, and on a dramatic 3-2 pitch, Ehrhard struck out swinging to end the game.
Zyhir Hope had two doubles and a walk, and has been showing well in his short time in Double-A. In this crowded situation in the Tulsa outfield since Josue De Paula and Zyhir Hope were promoted, it is noteworthy that Hope served as the DH, James Tibbs lll played first base, and De Paula didn’t play. Next season, the Dodgers may have up to seven top-30 prospects who play outfield and are tracked for Double-A, creating a logjam
