The New York Jets are coming off their bye week after finally winning their first game of the year against the Cincinnati Bengals a week ago.
The Jets offense had a monster game, with more than 500 yards
of total offense. Justin Fields rebounded from being benched the week prior with one of the finest performances of his career. The Jets scored 39 points, yet the defense played so poorly most of the game that it took an epic fourth quarter comeback just to take a one point lead late in the game. The Jets defense then stopped the Bengals offense cold with the game on the line, and the Jets escaped with a wild 39 -38 victory over the Bengals.
Now the Jets come home to host the 2-6 Cleveland Browns next week. The Browns have struggled almost as much as the Jets this season. They have lost four of their last five games. The Browns’ struggles have mostly been on offense, where they rank in the bottom three in the NFL in yards gained, points scored, passing yards, first downs and rushing yards per attempt. The Browns have failed to score more than 17 points in all but one game this season. This is an opportunity for the Jets defense to rebound from last week’s atrocious performance.
While the Browns have looked lost on offense most of this season, on defense they have shined. They have allowed the fewest first downs in the NFL this season. They also rank third in yards allowed, fifth in passing yards allowed, and third in rushing yards per attempt. This Browns defense will be a major challenge for a Jets offense that has struggled most of this season.
Let’s take a look at the current odds for this game according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The current line has the Jets home favorites by 1.5 points. The game has an over/under of 36.5 points. On the moneyline the Jets are -126 while the Bengals are +108.
