The Kentucky Wildcats are still in search of their first commitment from the class of 2026. No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes, who Mark Pope has been heavily involved with, is no longer enrolled at Notre Dame
High School.
Is there a chance that Stokes enrolls at a college and is eligible for the second semester? It sounds like the idea is at the very least being looked into.
UK has reportedly explored the option to have Stokes enroll at the university midseason, Jacob Polacheck at KSR reports.
Pope was also asked about the situation during Thursday afternoon’s pre-Valparaiso media availability, doing his best to brush off the idea.
“I don’t want to worry about disrupting a team so much,” the Wildcats’ head coach said.
Kentucky fans have seen a situation similar to this back in the 2021-22 season when No. 1 recruit Shaedon Sharpe joined the Wildcats midseason and redshirted before going pro. However, Stokes will not be a year removed from his high school graduating class, so going pro in 2026 does not appear possible at this time.
Pope and the Wildcats will pay close attention to Stokes and his situation. They will do what’s best for Stokes, his family, and the Wildcats roster this season.
