Harry Kane was arguably Bayern Munich’s best player last season. The Englishman found the back of the net 61 times, and assisted another seven goals across all competitions. After enjoying an extremely successful debut and sophomore season as well, Kane continues to surpass his own limits year after year, but — there is a problem.
The Three Lion’s captain only has 11 months left on his contract with Bayern, which expires on June 30, 2027. And given his immense form at the tender age of 33, clubs are
sniffing around Kane’s camp. FC Barcelona and Spurs are keeping tabs on the English striker, while Al-Hilal are also reportedly interested.
Luckily for Bayern, despite the widespread interest, it looks likely that Kane will be staying put in Munich.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen confirmed that there is “a strong desire on both sides” to complete a contract extension.
“When he’s back, we’ll sit down and talk,” said Dreesen (via @MiaSanMia). “There’s a strong desire on both sides to make it happen – now we just have to make sure our expectations align and that we can find common ground.”
While the initial outlook is certainly positive, one can only hope that “expectations” between Bayern and Kane’s camp are aligned. If not, we could be looking at another long, drawn out contract extension saga.
