Barcelona have confirmed that young Egypt international Hamza Abdelkarim has signed a permanent deal with the club that runs until 2029
Abdelkarim arrived on loan in the January transfer window and did enough to convince the Catalans to activate the buy option in his contract.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona has informed
Al Ahly that it is exercising its purchase option for player Hamza Abdelkarim. The Egyptian striker is joining the Club on a permanent basis, with whom he will sign for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029.”
Hamza is currently on international duty with Egypt at World Cup 2026 and has featured in both of the Pharoahs’ opening two games as a substitute.
He will return to Barcelona after the competition and is expected to play a key role for Juliano Belletti’s Barca’s Atletic side, with a view to earning first-team opportunities.
Hansi Flick has already admitted that Hamza “could be a option” for next season.
