In the wake of Mohamed Salah announcing his departure from Liverpool FC at the end of the season, a flurry of transfer rumours has hit the news cycle speculating on a potential Salah “replacement”.
First up, RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins states that Liverpool is preparing to bring in two wingers this summer, with Michael Olise at the top of the list (but Bayern is reluctant to do business). Other familiar names, such as Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola, are mentioned, along with a new one: Francisco
Conceição of Juventus.
Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs says “it is inevitable Liverpool are going to once again spend big”, with the club looking to bring in both a right and left winger. Barcola, his PSG teammates Kvaratskhelia and Doué, are mentioned, along with Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.
Finally, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Yan Diomande, claiming Liverpool are still tracking the player.
Reading these reports, I think Diomande is the only sure thing Liverpool will move for. Kvara and Doué seem totally unlikely, because unlike Barcola, they don’t have contract issues that may facilitate a move. Conceição seems like a totally random namedrop because his production isn’t particularly high.
Diomande’s ability to play on both the left and right flanks at a high level solves many of the team’s current issues and keeps the other potential winger addition flexible.
