Jan Błachowicz had morę surgeries than Cavity Sam.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion suffered a torn meniscus in training camp and was forced to withdraw from his Bogdan Guskov rematch, previously scheduled for the upcoming UFC 328 fight card on Paramount+ next month in Newark, New Jersey.
“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch,” Blachowicz wrote on Instagram. “I was supposed to be in the States next week, but plans had to change. I’m beyond pissed. Last round of sparring, wrong position
and a kick to the knee. Torn meniscus. The plan and goal were clear, so the disappointment is huge. But this isn’t the end! I’m already working on getting back as soon as possible. Coming back to finish things on my own terms.”
Błachowicz (29-11-2) is already out of surgery and on the road to recovery.
Guskov (18-3-1) is using the opportunity to call for a Paulo Costa fight.
“He talked something about Russian fighters. Here I am, a Russian fella who’s ready to share the Octagon with him at any time,” Guskov told Red Corner MMA.
Costa (16-4) previously said he “hates (expletive) Russians.”
“It looks like he’s overly elated, we have to cut his wings a bit,” Guskov’s coach, Gor Azizyan, added.
Defeating a Russian and getting thanked by the United States President can do that to a fighter.
“Good call Bogdan,” Costa responded on X. “Nothing against Russians people I respect them. My things is more against Chenchen.”
