The dust has settled a little after Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League, but there is still plenty to unpack from a frustrating night in London.
On one hand, Bayern Munich showed that they can go toe-to-toe with one of Europe’s strongest sides, even without Michael Olise in the starting lineup and with Luis Díaz struggling with fitness (and an injury). There were positive performances, moments of attacking quality, and plenty of reasons to believe that Vincent Kompany’s squad
belongs among the contenders for the Champions League trophy.
On the other hand, Bayern Munich will be disappointed not to have taken all three points. After putting themselves in a position to win, the late equalizer left a bitter taste, particularly given how much a victory would have meant in the league-phase standings. The defensive lapses and missed opportunities will also give Kompany plenty to review.
So, where do you stand now that you have had some time to reflect?
Are you encouraged by Bayern Munich’s performance against elite opposition, or are you frustrated that the team let a valuable victory slip away? Was the draw a fair result, or should FC Bayern have done enough to win? And what did the match tell you about this team’s chances of making a serious run at the Champions League title?
