Saquon Barkley’s residence victim of home invasion, Chester County DA says – NBC Philadelphia Saquon Barkley’s Chester County residence was the target of a home invasion on Saturday morning, the Chester County District Attorney’s Office said. The home invasion occurred at around 5 a.m. in the Malvern section of Tredyffrin Township, the D.A.’s office said. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspects had fled, but they believe the car below
may have been involved in the incident. Police also said they don’t believe the white SUV pictures was the only vehicle involved. “We know there’s more than one, but we’re still trying to determine how many were involved,” said Capt. Tyler Moyer of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department. Saquon and his family were inside the home at the time of the incident, and one suspect did enter the home, police said, but no one was injured. “All of the occupants in the home were physically OK, obviously a little unsettled as anybody would be, but nobody was harmed,” Moore said. Investigators also believe that nothing in Saquon’s home was taken.

Most fans are reasonably sure that, no matter what happens in this upcoming Eagles season, Vic Fangio’s defense won’t be the main obstacle to another deep playoff run. Sure, there are deficiencies on that side of the ball, but overall, there is faith Fangio will work his usual magic. Should the 2026 Eagles suffer another stumble like we saw a season ago, it will likely be the fault of the offense. Last year’s group was an underachieving unit that couldn’t sustain success. Kevin Patullo was clearly overmatched in his first season as offensive coordinator and, as a result, was fired following the Birds’ wild card loss to the 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field. Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni remain, and are joined by new OC Sean Mannion. The hope is Mannion’s new offensive scheme will fix what ailed last year’s inflexible group. Much will depend on the health of the offensive line. Lane Johnson’s second half departure was a killer, but Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens were never right, either. But it was much more than that. It was clear that, as games went on, Patullo and the Eagles were overmatched. Last year, the offensive coordinator was the fall guy.

By my count, there are 52 cities in the United States and Canada currently with at least one franchise in the NFL, the NBA, the NHL, or MLB. When did each of them win their last championship? Is it a slow news day in the NFL, you might ask? Uh, yeah, it’s been a slow news SIX WEEKS. Anyway, we did this 10 years ago, so a once per decade update feels about right. (For hockey and basketball, we’ll use the actual year the championship was won. For football, we’ll use what season it was, not the year the Super Bowl actually played. Good? Good.)

The new playbook in question is the brainchild of new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, who is expected to implement a wide zone scheme with concepts that look similar to those of Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan. If executed properly, the wide zone blocking concepts will stretch opposing defenses horizontally. Mailata said he is excited about the potential of this new scheme. “I absolutely love it,” he said. “It’s a new challenge. Very easy to follow along, but hard to remember, just because there’s so much to setting up the plays. But so far it’s been fun. You’re having a great time just learning this new offense because it’s something that we’re not familiar with. It’s a whole new direction, going into an outside direction. It’s going to stress defenses and it’s going to be fun.”

WHAT DO WE REALLY KNOW ABOUT DONTAYVION WICKS? We’re all kind of assuming Dontayvion Wicks will slip right into that third receiver role behind DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon. And while that’s certainly possible, you never know how these things are going to go. Wicks over the last two years is averaging 6.1 yards per target, which ranks 118th out of 138 wide receivers who were targetted at least 100 times during that span. He had five or more targets in 17 games with the Packers and had fewer than 50 yards in 12 of those games. His 55.5 catch percentage since 2024 ranks 128th out of 138 WRs with at least 100 targets. His 11.1 yards per catch ranked 81st out of those 138 receivers and his success rate ranked 100th. The Eagles are counting on Wicks blossoming as he plays more, and that could sure happen. He did have a big rookie season with 581 yards and 14.9 yards per catch. So there’s clearly something there. But that was 2023, and this is 2026. The Eagles also have Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore as potential third WRs and I think Darius Cooper has a chance to be pretty good. But the Eagles are counting on Wicks to be the third guy, and maybe that happens but it’s certainly not a lock.

Cowboys’ George Pickens to play on $27.3M tag as deadline passes – ESPN
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens will officially play the 2026 season on his $27.3 million franchise tender after Wednesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline for tagged players to agree to long-term contracts passed. This was an expected conclusion after the Cowboys announced before the NFL draft in April that they did not plan to hold talks on a long-term contract with Pickens. The last time the Cowboys signed a player tagged for the first time to an extension was wide receiver Dez Bryant in 2015. Pickens has already signed his franchise tender, putting him under contract for the 2026 season. He said last month that he was prepared to play this season on that tag.

The Eagles outperformed their expected wins; the Cowboys were about as expected. The Commanders and Giants finished with fewer wins than their point differential deserved, and are likely to improve, even without major roster changes. This is one of the most reliable indicators we have, because point differential tends to be much more stable from year to year than win-loss record.

The Washington Commanders have been on the kicker carousel since Adam Peters and Dan Quinn took over in 2024. After signing what looked to be a steady option in Brandon McManus, the position has been unsettled since Washington released the veteran kicker following the filing of a civil lawsuit against him. Since then, the Commanders have had six kickers appear in games including Cade York, Austin Seibert, Greg Joseph, Zane Gonzalez, Matt Gay, and Jake Moody. Cade lasted all of a week; Seibert’s tenure started well but was derailed by injury, Gonzalez and his mannerisms won a playoff game, but he was released after the season. Adam Peters signed Matt Gay to a heavily guaranteed contract in 2025 to replace him but made a gross miscalculation in regards to his range. After missing a potential game-winning kick in Madrid, the Commanders finally read the writing on the wall and released the former Colt.
Is Giants’ QB Jaxson Dart more than just an athletic project? – Big Blue View
I do tend to agree with Tice’s evaluation of Dart. I think there’s enough magic in his game to draw comparisons to a young Russell Wilson, particularly considering the baseball background the two share. But there’s also a world in which Dart winds up as a “Justin Fields” who never quite develops and realizes his potential. The structure of the Giants’ offense last year didn’t do Dart a ton of favors, and there were too many plays where his outlets or checkdowns were on the opposite side of the field and well away from his progression in the intended passing concept. But even so, I believe the biggest lever Dart and the Giants can pull to spark his improvement will be — as Tice and Harmon said — learning how to win from the pocket. Dart’s ability to gash defenses with his legs is a dangerous weapon, but it shouldn’t be a weapon of first resort.
LeBron James’ free agency frontrunner might actually be the 76ers – SB Nation
LeBron James knows what it’s like to have the entire NBA in a chokehold as they wait on his free agent decision. James did it in 2010, 2014, 2018, and somehow he’s doing it again even on the brink of his 42nd birthday. James told the Los Angeles Lakers he would be playing for a new team in the 2026-27 season at the end of June, and after weeks of speculation on the best fits and most likely landing spots, it’s finally time for him to announce his choice. The expectation is that James will sign in the coming week, and no one really knows where he’s going to land. The Golden State Warriors were a serious contender for a bit, but it seems like they’re out now that they won’t meet the Wizards’ ridiculous asking price for Anthony Davis. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat are also in pursuit of James, and both make a lot of sense given their championship history with LeBron. There’s one more team consistently mentioned in these free agent discussions, and at this point it doesn’t seem like a fluke: the Philadelphia 76ers are lurking as a very real suitor for LeBron, and it’s starting to feel like it could really happen.
