After defender Jenna Nighswonger joined the Gunners last January, she has rarely had the opportunity to see the pitch.
It has become bit of a trend where USWNT players would make the jump to the Women’s
Super League (WSL), and not have see many minutes and Nighswonger is no exception. The former NJ/NY Gotham FC player has only played 186 minutes in 11 months with Arsenal, zero minutes in the UWCL, and has featured only 16 minutes for the Arsenal this season.
The defender’s future is a mystery, although her coach, Renée Slegers, shared the following: “We’ll have to look at what’s good for the team and what’s good for Jenna. So I think when we have something to share or communicate, we will, but of course it’s about Jenna and what’s good for her at her stage in her career.”
The reigning UWCL champions have confirmed that they’re trying to bring another goalkeeper since their starting goalkeeper, Manu Zinsberger, is out for the remainder of the season but haven’t confirmed anything about Nighswonger just yet.
Could her next move be returning to the NWSL?
