The college basketball world just got some shocking news ahead of the 2025-26 season tipping off.
According to Joe Tipton of On3 and Jeff Borzello of ESPN, Auburn Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl is retiring.
Yes, you read that correctly. The two-time Final Four head coach is calling it a career.
Bruce’s son, Steven Pearl, will now be the Tigers’ head coach for the upcoming season as he looks to secure a long-term deal to become the program’s permanent head coach.
Not only is this major news for Auburn, but it could turn into a massive gain for another college program(s) if current Tigers players begin to enter the transfer portal, which automatically opens when a head coach is fired, leaves for another job, or retires.
September Madness.
