Misfit Boxing’s first-ever professional show on DAZN will see Derek Chisora battle former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder on April 4th at London’s O2 Arena.
Once floundering amidst a 1-4 skid that could easily have been 0-5, Chisora (36-13, 23 KO) just keeps truckin’ at 42 years old, entering the ring on a three-fight winning streak that’s seen him defeat Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce, and Otto Wallin by unanimous decision. This ties “War’s” longest streak since 2016 and leaves him within spitting
distance of an IBF or WBO title shot.
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KO), 40, broke out of a 1-4 slump last June with a rout of Tyrrell Anthony Herndon for just his second win since 2019. His trilogy with Tyson Fury and vicious knockout at the hands of Zhilei Zhang seem like they’ve taken a lot out of “The Bronze Bomber,” but if power really is the last thing to go, he’s better-equipped than most.
This feels like one of those situations where if these guys are going to keep fighting, they might as well fight each other. Both have a foot out the door, so better that they trade hands instead of being spoon-fed to genuine contenders. Plus, I mean, I’m all about cartoonishly sloppy violence.
