The New Orleans Saints will finally host their home opener when the Las Vegas Raiders visit the Crescent City on Sunday. Here’s what either outcome could mean for the black and gold in Week 3.
If the Saints win:
A victory on Sunday would be huge for New Orleans and establish them as a team to be taken seriously in the playoff picture. Yes, it’s early. But the context is huge here.
Both the Saints and the Raiders have gotten off to fast starts. Sunday’s matchup feels like a huge chance for either team to truly prove their
worth after three weeks.
The black and gold are betting favorites at home after last week’s resounding road victory in Baltimore. Another win here wouldn’t surprise many, but it would further amplify the excitement currently being felt around this team.
If the Saints lose:
On the flip side, a defeat against an up and coming Vegas squad wouldn’t spell disaster, but it would certainly dampen spirits in the wake of the Ravens win.
With the Saints on home turf, a defeat would certainly be a little unexpected. It’s objectively the easiest game of the year so far, as reflected by the betting line.
A loss would also put massive emphasis on the Week 4 divisional clash with Atlanta on Monday Night Football. If the Saints were 1-2 going in, that would become almost a must-win game early in the year.
