SmackDown airs tonight (Mar. 13) with a live show emanating from Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This is the second episode of SmackDown
during the seven week build to WrestleMania 42, which takes place on the weekend of April 18 and 19.Jelly Roll is back to beat up a WWE star before WrestleMania
Three-time Grammy Award winner Jelly Roll returns to WWE on tonight’s episode of SmackDown. He isn’t just here to play cheerleader for his SummerSlam tag team partner, Randy Orton. The Miz announced on social media that Roll will be his guest on a special
edition of Miz TV.
The A-Lister somehow got roped into being Danhausen’s mentor last week, otherwise he’s cursed. Curse or not, The Miz is used to getting humiliated on WWE programming, so I don’t think this segment is going to end well for him on Friday the 13th.
Given the rumored backstage chaos in WWE regarding the WrestleMania 42 card, it’s worth wondering if there could be a a plan brewing for Jelly to compete in a match at WWE’s biggest show of the year. If that’s the case, perhaps a more serious heel will come out to do something awful to Roll after he’s done chokeslamming The Miz.
Is Jelly Roll’s WWE return just a one off segment to further Miz’s story with Danhausen, or will the seeds be planted for Jelly’s involvement at WrestleMania? Tune into SmackDown to find out.
The rest of the card
Cody Rhodes is back in the main event of WrestleMania 42 after winning the WWE championship last week. The official contract signing for Rhodes vs. Randy Orton takes place tonight on SmackDown. Does that make their WrestleMania match more official than CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns? Does Randy plan to play nice with Cody for a few more weeks, or will he send a message by putting down WWE’s golden boy with an RKO right out of the gate? Will Trick Williams crash the party to get revenge on Orton for last week’s RKO?
WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill vs. Michin is scheduled for tonight in a non-title match. This is effectively a tune-up match for the champ before she defends her belt against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania. Will Rhea be on hand to confront Jade after she wins?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– How will Drew McIntyre respond after dropping the WWE title last week and getting bounced out of the WrestleMania main event? Will he blame Jacob Fatu and/or GM Nick Aldis for his failure and try to get violent with them tonight?
– That loser Sami Zayn is all messed up in the head, and it looks like Aleister Black and Zelina Vega want to confuse and corrupt him even further. Will Sami allow them to manipulate his emotions, or will he see through the bullshit and tell them to go to hell?
– Women’s United States Champion Giulia needs someone to fight at WrestleMania 42, and so does Tiffany Stratton. Will they cross paths tonight to set the wheels in motion for a potential WrestleMania title match?
– Damian Priest and R-Truth are the new number one contenders for MFTs WWE tag team championship. Does Truth have a list of ideas for their new team name? Are the Wyatt Sicks more likely to steal back their lantern now that MFT is distracted by bald Ron Cena?
– Is Johnny Gargano back in his sad and depressed state after getting crushed by Oba Femi last week? Will Oba return to the blue brand tonight to beat up another jabroni like Matt Cardona?
– Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are the new number one contenders for WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend. Will that title match take place over the next couple of weeks, or is it being saved for WrestleMania?
– Is there any update on Jordynne Grace after she was injured before SmackDown aired last week?
– Ilja Dragunov wants to build some winning momentum before he answers one of Carmelo Hayes’ open challenges for the United States championship. Will Ilja get back on track by facing future WrestleMania main eventer Kit Wilson?
– Is WWE saving Royce Keys’ SmackDown TV debut until after WrestleMania 42?
– Where the f*** are the Street Profits?
