With the 2026 NFL Draft in the rear-view mirror, the Cleveland Browns offense has received a massive facelift. Both the offensive line and wide receiver rooms, which were major weaknesses going into this offseason, have been revamped and improved. With those rooms being overhauled, the floor for the offense has been established.
Cleveland’s offense should be at least competent at 10 starting positions, with some depth (unless some are traded away).
The issue? Figuring out which quarterback can lead
this offense and how far that QB can take them.
As of now, based on past performances, the quarterback room for the Browns is still below average. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is on his last chance to prove he can still play in the league, and Shedeur Sanders has to improve from an underwhelming rookie campaign that had a few exciting moments.
Sanders and Watson will be battling for the starting quarterback spot from the start of minicamp all the way up to training camp, with a report that Watson currently has the lead. Whoever is under center will have no excuses to get the offense to at least league average. The passing game should be a lot better with a revamped wide receiver room. Rookie KC Concepcion is a versatile playmaker with the ball in his hands, Denzel Boston is the prototypical X that the Browns have lacked for a while, and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is bound to have a bounce-back season.
Tight end Harold Fannin Jr is looking to build off his strong rookie campaign, and rookie Joe Royer will complement him well in terms of skill set. The offensive line will be better in a bevy of ways. Rookie Spencer Fano could establish himself as the team’s cornerstone at left tackle, and guards Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins are upgrades along the interior. Tytus Howard is a reliable starter at right tackle, and either rookie Parker Brailsford or Luke Wypler can figure out the center position.
On paper, this unit can be an average unit, but everything falls back to the quarterback position.
The strong draft class that the Browns had offensively shows how committed the team is to rebuilding the offense. The receiver room is much better than what the team had previously and the offensive line has quality starters across the board. It is on the quarterbacks, whether it’s Sanders or Watson to determine what this team’s floor will be heading into the season.
