Game 1 of the Cubs vs. Brewers National League Division Series is just a few hours away.
Saturday morning, the team revealed the 26-man active roster for this series.
Late Friday, manager Craig Counsell announced that left-hander Matthew Boyd would start Game 1. It’s an unconventional choice, as Boyd is going on three days’ rest after throwing 58 pitches in the Wild Card series opener Tuesday against the Padres, and he hasn’t thrown that well on the road this year (16 starts, 3.90 ERA, as opposed to a 2.51 ERA in 15 starts at Wrigley Field).
But Counsell often gets results with these sorts of choices. He will have plenty of guys in the bullpen who can go multiple innings today. As always, we await developments.
Game 1 will begin at 1:08 p.m. CT Saturday at American Family Field in Milwaukee, with TV coverage on TBS (and streaming on HBO Max).
The BCB game preview will post shortly, at 11 a.m. CT.
