Barcelona target Alessandro Bastoni has been told to find a new club abroad in the wake of his red card for Italy in midweek.
The Azzurri were reduced to 10 men against Bosnia and Herzegovina and ultimately lost their play-off final on penalties
Italy legend Giuseppe Bergomi feels that the best thing that Bastoni can do now is look for a new club in a different country.
“What has this boy been put through? He is a friend, I see him at basketball games sometimes, I care deeply about him,” he told Radio
Nerazzurra.
“Now he will have to leave Italy for his own safety. We are losing an extraordinary talent, one of the best defenders in modern football.
“I am very sorry, but I think that for his own sake he will have to find a club abroad.”
Bastoni was already unpopular in Italy after his role in a controversial red card for Pierre Kalulu against Juventus and has now come in for more criticism following his sending off.
