Barcelona lost exciting youngster Dro Fernandez
in the January transfer window, in a move that upset manager Hansi Flick, with the teenager deciding to leave the club and join Paris Saint-Germain.Dro’s release clause was just €6 million, although PSG did end up paying slightly more, which may well have encouraged the Ligue 1 club in their pursuit of the midfielder.
According to RAC1, Barcelona are now taking measures in a bid to try and prevent a similar thing happening in the future.
The club want
to take preventative measures in a bid to “avoid another Dro case” and have temporarily put a stop to all ongoing renewals as they want to change some release clauses.
Barcelona want to put in place new contracts which mean that any players who debut with the youth team will have a release clause set at €6 million, while a debut for Barcelona Atletico will see the clause rise to €10m.
Going further, any player who goes on to debut with the first team will see their release clause rise to €100m – measures taken to avoid losing any more talented stars for small fees.
