The United States Men’s National Team will have two games in South Florida in the span of a month, including one which was surprisingly moved there. We discuss that and the Crest Cup on Episode 202.
The USMNT had their road leg of the Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals moved to Miami as Haiti got a special exemption from Concacaf to play their home matches outside of the Caribbean. We discuss the extraordinary move and what it means as the USMNT prepare to play Haiti in the quarterfinal round.
The United States will also return to South Florida in December, this time to Fort Lauderdale to face Jamaica in a match on December 13th. RIP January Camp, but Camp Candy Cane will rise from the ashes. It’s yet another chance for some of the young MLS-based players to get seen and perhaps even get a cap that could be enough to secure moves to Europe in the January window. It’s a prime opportunity for those players who get called in for the late match.
Finally, the Crest Cup is here, an open cup for the two pro leagues in American women’s soccer: the NWSL and the USL Super League. We discuss why it’s a good thing to have this kind of competition on the women’s side and hope it quickly expands to include all clubs so that it’s truly a cup competition that’s open to anyone.
