With our Miami Dolphins facing their second preseason game last week, I asked the following question:
What are you most looking forward to or hoping to observe in the Miami Dolphins’ preseason game against the Detroit Lions this coming Sunday? Are there specific players you want to watch, and if so, why? What aspects of their performance will you be focusing on, and why? What improvements will you be looking for from the team week over week?
Below are some of your thoughts and answers-
SlayerNation1
wants to see what Weaver looks like in control of the whole ship. Also, was hoping to see the starters play for a bit in the second preseason game.
I would like to see Weaver get a chance to be HC for at least a preseason game.
I doubt that will happen due to Mike feeling the heat.
A lot of Weaver proponents, but the reality is We have no idea if He is HC material.
… one more thing… play the damn starters for a drive or two. Just because they had one better day of practice doesn’t mean they can’t use game situation reps.
tpl was looking to see how the backup QBs looked.
I be looking at the backup QBs and hoping they look better than last game. Because right now, neither will give a credible performance if Tua goes down. Miami should seriously sign some young QBs from the last cutdown. Plus Miami needs backup offensive lineman.
The Roo1 was hoping the Dolphins wouldn’t get pushed around against the Lions.
With the broadcast likely being local only, I may not be watching, but the hope is that the Phins dont get bullied in the trenches. With McD indicating the ones wont be playing, that hope is fading.
The defense I think will get beaten often early on by their starters, but I’m assuming Weaver isn’t going to get too creative, and will stay with basic packages, so that doesn’t worry me too much.
Dave21 wants to see the team improve its timing and for the defensive line to come together.
Timing with the offense and Health at the of the game!! Wouldn’t mind seeing the DL start to gel and form a solid front
JUK just wants to see the roster start to come together.
Really this week is about sorting the depth in the roster. So who will be the corners after Jones, Hilton and storm? (Right now, bonner and Marshall). Can anyone look convincing as a swing tackle? Does the whole TE room suck? Who will grab DT 5, and can any of the receivers overtake Eskridge or Thaj?
That and working out what offense we can actually run if Tua is out. Because it definitely isn’t the full menu for either Zach or Quinn
Jptapt wanted to see the team playing as a team.
For me, I guess I want to see the team playing as a team, if you know what I mean. I think winning teams have players that are better because the other players around them make them better, and they know that. Call it team spirit, camaraderie, whatever. You can have a collection of good or even great players, but I’ll pick a team any day.
Bill Moody was another looking to see how the backup QBs looked.
Same as last game… the BackUp QBs. They didn’t look great, they didn’t look awful, but we need better. Also was a surprise to see Tua last game. Maybe we’ll get to see Tua with Hill/Waddle for a drive or two.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a huge response, but we are also hoping that things will soon explode like they do at the beginning of every new season. Many of us were looking to see how the backups looked, specifically the two backup quarterbacks. Luckily for those looking to the QB, they got to see each for a full half, a trend that I expect to continue in next week’s game after Tua is given a series or two as a warmup going into the regular season.
