There’s been some discussion in the build-up to tonight’s game, with some expecting Liam Rosenior to spring a small tactical surprise on PSG, and perhaps line-up with a back-three or something of the sort. Rosenior’s experimentation with such tactics have not proven very fruitful so far, though his conservative approach in the second leg of the League Cup semifinal against Arsenal may yet provide the blueprint for how we approach things tonight.
That said, for the WAGNH Community, the preference is
to stay with the usual 4-2-3-1 look, with two proper wingers and just two central midfielders in fact: a more attacking version than what we’ve seen lately, with the three center mids (and one, Enzo, pushing forward). Could Rosenior be so bold as to go for it full bore in Paris? Seems unlikely, but maybe that’s the tactical surprise? We’ll see!
While there’s pretty good alignment from the Community about this, the shape hinges on Alejandro Garnacho (48%) getting the start ahead of either Malo Gusto (40%) or Andrey Santos (38%), and there was not much in that decision. The identity of the starting goalkeeper was a bit more clear, with the voters preferring to stick with Robert Sánchez ahead of Filip Jörgensen by roughly a 60-40 margin.
4-2-3-1 (77%)
Sánchez (61%) | Cucurella (97%), Chalobah (97%), Fofana (86%), James (98%) | Enzo (99%), Caicedo (99%) | Garnacho (48%), Palmer (99%), Neto (64%) | João Pedro (99%)
Mamadou Sarr (14%) and Roméo Lavia (10%) were the only other players to reach the double-digit percentages.
