A lackluster 7-1 loss on Friday put them four games back of Toronto though, and with the Jays holding the head-to-head tiebreaker with their dominance over the Yanks this year, they cannot afford any further losses.
This background all means that Cody Bellinger’s outstanding throw from right field to cut down Bo Bichette as the tying run to end the top of the sixth
on Saturday afternoon could loom large if the Yanks have one of those ol’ rallies in their bones. But before the Yankees could potentially bolster their 2-1 lead and preserve the win, the rain came. It began about 10 minutes prior and quickly caused groundskeeper Danny Cunningham to sound the alarm about a storm brewing.
