Happy
Friday, TSFers! We’ve made it through another week and I’ve made it through five straight days of bringing CF back. Here is to five more and then five more after that, et. cetera. Today, I have a few odds and ends / musings, but mostly, it’s an Open Thread. What have you found on the internet (or in real life) recently that was interesting and fun?
- I tossed it in The Feed (TM – not actually trademarked) yesterday, but Chelsea are buying Julio Enciso from Brighton. Technically, BlueCo, the parent company are buying him, and he’s being sent to Strasbourg for some period of time. What Chelsea are doing, both with their multi-club ownership structure and ridiculous stockpiling of young players, can’t be good for the game. Strasbourg supporters aren’t happy being treated as a farm team, too.
- Speaking of The Feed – remember that y’all can use it to post. If you see something interesting in the world of Arsenal or football, throw it up there! Stuff from player interviews on social media, interesting stats, pictures of Win the Arsenal dog, really whatever. It’s wide open.
- Back to Chelsea for a minute: apparently they have to sell, like, 10 players before the close of the window. One list included Anselmino, Chilwell, Gilchrist, Disasi, Badiashile, Carney, Sterling, Nkunku, Jackson, and Datro Fofana as players that needed to be shifted. Somehow though, even if FFP is implicated, they’ll slip away. They’ll sell their mascot to themselves or something.
- Arsenal have been linked with Nicolas Jackson. No thanks. You think he got too many yellow and red cards at Chelsea? Imagine him doing those same things but wearing an Arsenal shirt. They’d come up with a new color of card just for him and our club.
- Rodrygo’s agent reportedly requested meetings with Arsenal and Liverpool to try to drum up interest and work something out. The Brazilian winger is on the outs at Real Madrid. I could see a late loan move to North London materializing, but I cannot imagine Arsenal have the cash to buy him this window.
- Manchester City were involved in the Rodrygo rumors but have fallen out of them because reportedly Savinho, who had been linked with a move to Spurs, isn’t going anywhere.
- Alexander Isak won’t play for Newcastle against Liverpool. Funny, that. Liverpool linked with an opposing team’s star player and he misses the early season match against them. I know there is more to it — both Isak and Newcastle have recently accused the other of breaking promises. Similar to the Gyokeres situation, get things in writing, folks!
- It feels like there are a bunch of dominoes still to fall and that one big move could kick off a flurry of moves elsewhere as funds shift around. Arsenal could do with selling some players. I’m sure they will, but it doesn’t seem like an absolute must from a FFP standpoint. If it was, the club would be briefing reporters on that talking point.
- The transfer window closes on September 1st. There is still time for craziness. Bring on the chaos and hilarity!
