The 2025-26 campaign is already over, and details about the next Premier League season have started to emerge and are already taking shape.
Transfer windows, format details, schedule release dates, and qualification for European competitions, as well as fresh newcomers, are now confirmed.

Key dates
- Full schedule release: June 19, 2026
- Season start: August 22, 2026

The later start date is due to the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place through mid-July, thus forcing the Premier League into giving players some extra recovery time.
That
said, there are only 33 days between the end of the World Cup and the start of the EPL MD1.
Season structure
- 33 weekend matchdays
- 5 midweek matchdays
- Boxing Day (Dec 26) falls on a Saturday, with a full slate of matches expected.
Domestic & Continental Cup Dates
- Carabao Cup: Begins August 7–9 (EFL clubs)
- FA Cup: 3rd Round expected to begin early January (first EPL involvement)
- Champions League (League stage): Sept 8–10 through Jan 27
- Europa League: Sept 16–17 start
- Conference League: Oct 15 start
Transfer window
- Opens: June 15, 2026
- Closes: August 31, 2026
Clubs will play out nine days of the season with the window open before it shuts.
European Competition Participants
No Newcastle roaming the continent next season, but here’s the full picture.
- Champions League: Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, Aston Villa, Liverpool
- Europa League: Bournemouth, Sunderland
- Conference League: Brighton
All Champions League teams will enter directly into the league phase (no qualifiers), thanks to England’s coefficient.
Promoted and Relegated Teams
The Premier League lost two historic top-flight clubs, but it will see the return of two others with more than a combined six decades spent in the English top division.
- Promoted:
- Coventry City (Championship winners)
- Ipswich Town (2nd place)
- Hull City (Promotion Play-off winner)
- Relegated:
- West Ham (18th, 37 points)
- Wolves (19th, 22 points)
- Burnley (20th, 21 points)
Here’s to a winning 2026-27 Magpie season. Howay!
