Kennedy Blaydes is an outstanding wrestler, but the Olympic silver medalist may still have a thing or two to learn about media relations.
Blaydes will compete tonight at the Real American Freestyle (RAF) 07 event versus Milana Dudieva in a defense of her 150-pound title. While promoting the event, Blaydes appeared on Fox and Friends to demonstrate some technique on anchor Abby Hornacek, who I’m not entirely sure knew what she was signing up for. Hitting a quick duck under, Blaydes absolutely launched
Hornacek through the air with a belly-to-back suplex, bringing her back to the Earth with a definite thud.
The full clip can be viewed above.
In her immediate reaction to the toss, a breathless Hornacek gasped, “Amazing! I don’t think I can be a wrestler. I think I’m going to stay off the mat from now on. That felt like being thrown off a skyscraper!” It’s fortunate that Hornacek seems to have escaped from the throw unscathed, as it appears she landed more on her shoulder than her head.
In her own Instagram post of the suplex, Hornacek wrote, “Got suplexed by an Olympian today so that’s cool.”
Talk about a good sport! Hopefully, there was an unaired portion of this segment that involved Kennedy teaching Hornacek how to fall properly, because landing wrong on such a high-amplitude throw can result in serious consequences. In 2023, for example, a jiu-jitsu instructor was successfully sued for $46 million after unintentionally paralyzing a new student while attempting a rolling back take.
We’ve also seen multiple slam knockouts inside the Octagon.
Thankfully, Hornacek is healthy, and Blaydes can continue on to her RAF matchup with a viral video gaining her some extra attention. Check back into MMAmania.com tonight for live results, as well as highlights of the RAF 07 event, which features high-profile wrestling collisions like Colby Covington vs. Dillon Danis and Arman Tsarukyan vs. Georgio Poullas 2.
