TCU Men’s Basketball received a haymaker to the gut on Wednesday with reports that sophomore forward David Punch intends to enter the transfer portal, departing the program after two standout seasons in Fort Worth. Punch earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention for the 2025-26 season, leading the Horned Frogs in scoring and rebounds, helping TCU reach the Second Round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
David Punch played in every game during his two seasons with the Horned Frogs, averaging 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his 66 games played. He currently ranks as a top-10 player in the transfer portal per On3 rankings and is expected to be one of the highest-paid players in the sport. As a high school prospect Punch was a four-star player ranking in the top 100 overall in the class of 2024, choosing the Frogs over offers from Virginia, Xavier, NC State among others. Punch would become the sixth player from the TCU roster to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining Jace Posey, RJ Jones, Kayden Edwards, Ashton Simmons, and Liutaurus Lelevicius in a search for a new hoops home.
