Barcelona midfielder Pedri has spoken about Hansi Flick while on World Cup duty with Spain and the changes the German has made at the club during his time in charge.
Pedri says that Flick tweaked his position at Barcelona but also feels the way he changed the team’s entire mentality was key to their recent success.
“Above all, he started putting me at the base of the attack so I’d be in contact with the ball. It’s true that, for example, Luis Enrique also asked me to drop deep, to get on the ball and
feel comfortable there,” he told AS.
“But Flick changed my position on the field and, above all, he instilled in us a winning mentality, a competitive one.
“That’s what he’s really changed, and he’s transformed the team’s mentality. We have to thank him; he’s changed Barça’s mentality.”
Barcelona have won two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and a couple of Spanish Super Cup since Flick took charge. He signed a contract extension in the summer and will be gunning for more trophies with Barcelona in 2026-27.
