With New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffering a major injury, the team will likely be in the market for another quarterback to add to their locker room. They will be looking around the league to see which teams have an extra quarterback on their roster who they could potentially trade for, and the Cleveland Browns may be one of those teams.
Dillon Gabriel would make sense for the Giants to bring in as a short-term fix. Gabriel has significant college experience and also played in several
regular-season games for the Browns last year. He is someone they could bring in to run their offense while relying on their defense to win games. Gabriel is currently on injured reserve.
Shedeur Sanders would be a more complicated option for them to pursue through a trade. There were rumors during the 2025 draft that New York was interested in drafting Sanders. If there is still interest, Sanders could be a player they want to bring in. With Sanders comes significant off-the-field chatter and a lot of eyeballs, which may deter them from wanting to make this trade.
Sanders didn’t feel like he “hit it off” with the Giants in the NFL draft process, but John Harbaugh was not the coach at that time either. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith thinks New York should make the call:
On the Browns’ end, if the draft picks or players they get in return are valuable enough, they should strongly consider making this trade. It will be challenging for them to keep all of these quarterbacks on the roster once Gabriel is healthy, so it makes sense to try to move one of these players to another team.
