I am Anthony Parker, but just call me AP for short.
I am a native New Orleanian, a graduate of Brother Martin High School, and I even attended LSU. I am a husband, a father of three beautiful children, and I have spent all of my adult life in the service industry.
But before any of that, I have been a Saints fan for as long as I can remember and understand the importance of the Saints not just to the city, but to the entire region.
I remember when brown bags were the main fashion choice for a Sunday
afternoon and having a quarterback with two first names was almost a rite of passage in order to be a part of this organization.
I have had the incredible experience of being present for some of the most amazing games in the Dome — even the heartbreakers.
Yes, I was there for the “No Call.” It happened on my side of the Dome. I was also there for Kyle Rudolph the next year. That happened in the corner of the end zone I was sitting in.
But highlighting the lows could go on for a while.
I was also blessed to be there for record-setting performances as well. Seeing Drew Brees in person for multiple seasons was an honor and a privilege I will never take for granted.
Witnessing this team win a Super Bowl proves to me that anything truly is possible. The fact that I am writing this article in this moment is even more confirmation of that. My journey to becoming a writer has definitely been non-traditional. However, it’s my journey, and I would not write this story any other way.
I have always had a love for writing and, of course, a love for sports, but I never considered putting the two together and truly pursuing that passion until recently. For a long time, those were two separate passions in my life — until I finally decided to stop treating them that way.
I honestly thought it was too late to make such a change and attempt to pursue this dream of covering sports. But with the support and encouragement of my wife — who definitely has a time limit on how much sports she can stand to hear from me — I began a podcast called Timeouts and Tangents which you can find on YouTube and Spotify, as well as on Substack under the same name. That decision led me to meet some amazing people, and I have since been fortunate enough to receive this opportunity to write for Canal Street Chronicles covering the Saints.
This is absolutely an amazing time to be a member of Who Dat Nation, considering all of the potential this team has and the promise of the upcoming draft.
It is an honor to now have the opportunity to cover this team at this moment, and to do it with the amazing team at Canal Street Chronicles.
This is going to be great, and I can’t wait for us to enjoy this journey — and this team — together.
