As names continue to slowly leak out for the German national team’s World Cup roster, one player who has not been referenced for making it or being cut is Bayern Munich’s versatile midfielder Tom Bischof.
Bischof had a strong first season in Bavaria and was used in a variety if positions by Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany. That experience could bode well for him, but Bischof is truly on the roster bubble. Will it burst for him?
Bischof hopes not, but also understands the odds are against him.
“I’ve said it before; if I had no hope, I’d be in the wrong place. I feel I’ve done everything I could and prepared myself well for it. It would be a dream to be there, we’ll see,” Bischof told Sky Germany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bischof’s versatility could help him, but it is tight competition within the central midfield and even though the youngster has been proficient at other spots, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann could prefer other players who are specialized at those positions.
