I don’t want to be here in your London Dungeon
I don’t want to be here in your British hell
Ain’t no mystery why I’m in misery in Hell
-The Misfits
Walking corpses
The absolute last thing a team on a losing streak needs is a trip to London.
Teams that play in London on a winning streak, like the Jaguars are currently on, are 8-4, and one of those losses was to the Jaguars, who of course play in London every year.
Teams that play in London on a losing streak, like the Eagles are currently on, are 7-20. It’s even worse
than that seems.
Three of those wins were against teams also on a losing streak, so someone had to get a win (there was a tie in 2016).
The other four wins were by the Jaguars, who, again, play in London every year.
This might be the worst Eagles offense of your lifetime
The Eagles offense is their worst at the following stats since…
- Points per game (18.8) since 2012 (17.5)
- Yards per game (269.75) since 1999 (239.38)
- Yards per play (4.69) since 1999 (4.04)
- Yards per attempt (5.6) since 2000 (5.4).
- Adjusted Net Yards per attempt (4.7) since 2000 (4.6)
- Completion percentage (59.1) and sack rate (9.45) since 2020 (55.9 and 9.80), excluding that…
- Completion percentage since 2005 (54.4)
- Sack rate since 1998 (9.49)
- Yards per completion (9.5) since 2016 (9.4)
- Yards per rushing attempt (4.2) is the same as last year, worst since 2018 (3.9)
- Yards before contact per rush (2.5) since 2019 (2.3)
- Bad throw percentage (23.6) worst (only tracked since 2019)
- On target percentage (67.0) worst (only tracked since 2019)
How low can the Eagles go? The 1998 Eagles scored 10.1 points per game. The Eagles won’t sink that far, as they would need to average less than 7.4 points per game the rest of the way. They can’t be that bad, right? Right?
The Travis Hunter Experiment May Be Over
It seems to me that it would be a lot easier to make Travis Hunter a full time cornerback and part time wide receiver rather than the other way around. A depth receiver can have a limited route tree, and you can design a handful of plays that feature him. You can’t do that with a depth corner. Last year in seven games the Jaguars had Hunter play at least 53% of snaps on offense in every game, and more than 40% just twice on defense. He was good at neither.
This year he played 59% of defensive snaps in Week 1, increasing his share each week, playing every snap last week. He’s played 15 total snaps on offense, and none last week. And what a surprise, now that he’s a full time CB and part time WR, he’s now a good CB.
A Blast From the Past
Football Outsiders is kinda sorta back!
We’re officially bringing the Football Outsiders website back online as an archive, making two decades of FO articles, analysis and research available again. Football Outsiders is not relaunching as a new publication.
It’s better than nothing.
College Football Watch List
12:00 – Indiana at Nebraska
This game has a pair of LTs who might be guards in the NFL.
Indiana LT Carter Smith is probably too stiff to stick at tackle in the NFL (or in the case of this play, doesn’t even move), moving to the interior is perhaps his future.
Nebraska LT Elijah Pritchett has yet to put it all together, but a team is going to love his size 6’6” 330 lbs and movement.
3:30 – Texas at Oklahoma
Against Ohio State I highlighted Cam Coleman, who had a catch turned into an interception, and Ryan Wingo, who dropped a TD. Then I highlighted Colin Simmons, who had a great game but also mimicked peeing on someone. Who can I put a vex on this week? Let’s go with LT Trevor Goosby, 6’7” 325 lb is the kind of OT the Eagles like.
In a previous Oklahoma game I considered TE Rocky Beers in part because his name is Rocky Beers (he played for not one but two Colorado teams!) but he’s a sixth year senior. But against Michigan and Georgia he put up 14 catches for 178 yards and a TD. There are more picks made in the final three rounds of the draft then there are the first three.
UCLA at Oregon
UCLA RB Wayne Knight is listed at 5’7” 193 lbs. That’s basically Darren Sproles (5’6”, 190). On the stat sheet, that’s a good comp too. And like Sproles, he a TD machine on the ground, already with 9 in 4 games, and he’s dual threat, with 27 receiving yards a game. Knight is shifty with a wonderful spin move (I love a good spin move) and explosive but also unafraid of contact. Sproles is an easy comp, but also a fair one.
Oregon OC Iapani Laloulu is simply massive for a center, 6’2” 325 lbs. While he has played all along the interior for Oregon, at the NFL he’s likely just a center. He can close the door from a double team to an unblocked interior rusher, but you’re not going to ask him to be moving down the field much.
7:30 – Georgia at Alabama
All Georgia TE Lawson Luckie does is catch TDs. He has just 21 catches in 2025 and 2026, but 5 of them are for TD. He also seems to enjoy dropping his shoulder into defenders. He may become a star but he can help a team.
Alabama EDGE Yhonzae Pierre has the tools teams love. He’s backing it up this year. Against Mississippi State he had a pressure that help flush Kamario Taylor out of the pocket and into a pick six, and effected several other throws with his wingspan. The burst, bend, and moves are there.
