The women’s golf NCAA Championship begins today at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa with the No. 20 Ole Miss squad back again competing for the national title.
The women’s team previously won a title in 2021 beating Oklahoma State 4-1 in the finals. This year’s team is making the seventh appearance in the NCAA Championship and fourth straight appearance under coach Kory Henkes.
A grueling schedule is ahead for the 30 teams that have qualified with three days of 18 hole stroke play then a cut for the top
15 teams. On Monday, another day of stroke play will cut the field to only eight teams who will then have two additional days of match play to decide the national champion.

Ole Miss will tee off at 3:40 p.m. alongside No. 18 Tennessee. Leading the Rebels is sophomore Kajsalotta Svarvar of Sweden who has a team best 71.34 scoring average and 10 rounds in the 60’s this season. Second team All SEC selection Mary Miller also brings a sub 72 scoring average to the title challenge while junior Sophie Linder is the most experienced golfer on the roster.
Freshman Matilda Bjorkman and sophomore Filippa Sundquist complete the five woman roster for Ole Miss. It is clearly an accomplishment to make it as far as this team has and making it to Monday has to be the goal for now. If some great golf is put together the next four days, it would be electric to see this young group in match play for a title again.
