After losing Jeremiah Cooper for the rest of the season to a torn ACL just this past week after an injury occurred in practice, the Cyclone secondary was dealt another blow today as Matt Campbell announced
in his Tuesday presser that Jontez Williams, Iowa State’s best cornerback, will also miss the remainer of the season after sustaining an injury late in the second half of the blowout win over Arizona.
Given that Iowa State was leading by 22 points late in the fourth quarter when the injury occurred, fans will obviously have questions as to why Jontez was still in the game at that point, but the past is the past, and now it’s next man up for Iowa State.
Fortunately, the Cyclones still have the benefit of one of the best defensive minds in college football in Jon Heacock, as well as Tre Bell and Quentin Taylor, both of whom have played very good football so far this season.
