When Bayern Munich opted to sell Adam Aznou to Everton earlier this summer, many fans were irate with the club for giving up on another youngster.
However, there were some rumblings about Aznous’s attitude and work ethic — particularly on Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup trip — that might have pushed the club over the edge in determining to get rid of the young left-back.
Even with those rumors, fans were very upset because of the team’s current lack of depth at the position. After all, with both Alphonso
Davies and Hiroki Itō out with long-term injuries, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has been relegated to playing Josip Stanišić out of position or rolling out Raphaël Guerreiro, who has struggled at the position.
Maybe, however, Bayern Munich was on to something. An injury has taken its toll on Aznou, who is playing for Everton’s U-21 team in an effort to get back up to speed:
Time will tell if Aznou’s rumored effort to force his way out of Bayern Munich will benefit him, but he has to get healthy first. Aznou played 81 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Doncaster.
