The Wisconsin Badgers had only two players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft: Hunter Wohler and Jack Nelson.
Nelson, a seventh-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons, has been battling for a roster spot at tackle, playing exclusively on the right side so far in the preseason.
Wohler, on the other hand, has been a standout for the Indianapolis Colts after being taken in the seventh round, fighting for legitimate playing time in the secondary as a rookie.
However, those wishes may be cut short in 2025, as the
Colts announced that Wohler would go on Injured Reserve with a foot injury, effectively ending his season.
Wohler had been a pleasant surprise for the Colts this offseason, working in the safety rotation as a versatile chess piece and having a good first preseason game.
However, according to The Athletic’s James Boyd, Wohler has a Lisfranc injury in his foot and will ‘likely’ undergo surgery. It’s a brutal result of what was shaping up to be a promising campaign for the Badgers’ rookie.
The Colts also lost third-round cornerback Justin Walley for the season with an injury, as they’ve dealt with a few injuries in the secondary. Wohler is the latest in the group, leaving them without much depth behind starters Cam Bynum and Nick Cross.
