Midfield at Neyland Stadium will have a little bit of a different look this weekend. Tennessee will remove the traditional ‘Power T’ and match the throwback logo from this year’s version of the ‘Smokey Grey’ uniforms, which honor General Robert Neyland.
You can see the full field look below. Tennessee will also have ‘carry the fight’ spelled out behind each endzone. Everything else will remain the same.
The logo is an interlocking UT emblem
from back in 1952. Tennessee announced the new smokey grey look back in August, with several new details. Most notably, Tennessee will not have the Power T on the helmet. Instead, it’s a throwback to a leather helmet look.
Tennessee has used the Power T as their midfield logo since the 1998 season. Previously, other versions of the interlocking UT logo were used. The Volunteers have played each game with a Power T on their helmet since 1963 — Saturday afternoon, that will change.
Tennessee and Auburn are set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff in Knoxville. ESPN will have the coverage.
