Muhammad Mokaev is now BRAVE CF flyweight champion.
The 25 year-old “Punisher” popped and dropped Gerard Burns to capture the 125-pound crown at BRAVE Combat Federation 100 earlier today in Khalifa Sports
City Arena in Bahrain.
Have a look:
Wait, isn’t Mokaev supposed to be a “very boring fighter?”
“He’s a good, classy fighter, don’t get me wrong, he’s a winner,” Burns told MMA Fighting before the bout. “His record speaks for itself. He knows how to win fights. He’s obviously been sacked from the UFC for being a very boring fighter. I don’t think he’s been in many fights, to be totally honest. He’s been in plenty of martial arts competitions, matches, but he’s never been in a fight.”
With the stoppage over Burns, Mokaev (16-0, 1 NC) has now registered 10 finishes in 16 wins.
“The Punisher” was released from his UFC contract after defeating Manel Kape at UFC 304 roughly one year back, likely due to his pre-fight shenanigans that drew the ire of UFC CEO, Dana White. PFL passed on the opportunity to sign the undefeated flyweight, who eventually landed with BRAVE CF.
Maybe he’s not such a “bad guy” after all.
