The Cleveland Browns open the second half of their 2025 NFL Season on Sunday when they take on the New York Jets.
Both teams are coming off their bye week and are in a close race with the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders to see who has what it takes to claim the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The game marks the debut of offensive coordinator Tommy Rees as the play caller on offense for the Browns. Rees will attempt to inject
some life into quarterback Dillon Gabriel and a moribund offense in the hopes that the team does not have to pull the circus tent out of mothballs to accommodate another quarterback change.
As for the Jets, head coach Aaron Glenn has his own quarterback issues, as he continues to ponder the choice between Justin Fields, statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL, and Tyrod Taylor, who simply can’t stay healthy. They also traded away their two best defensive players, cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, and benched former All-Pro linebacker Quincy Williams.
It is the Browns vs. the Jets from somewhere in the swamps of Jersey, and here is everything you need to know about the game.

A Final Quote
Cleveland offensive coordinator Tommy Rees on taking over play calling on offense:
“I really think, the mentality here from the beginning was like, whatever is asked of me last year, this year, whatever the organization it’s going to ask of me, want to do that to my fullest capabilities. Excited about the opportunity, certainly, but try not to think of it in those terms. Like we have a job to do – as a staff, myself, players included, like, focused really on having a great week of preparation, making sure that we’re putting our best foot forward, using the bye week to improve some areas where we really need to improve on, and ultimately then, call a good game on Sunday.”
What are you looking for from the Browns in Sunday’s game against the Jets?
