Joan Laporta has made no secret of the fact that he dreams of signing Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland which means every now and again we get a new rumor about a potential move to Barcelona.
And this time around it’s El Nacional
’s turn to have a go at this particular piece of gossip. A new report states Laporta wants Haaland to succeed Robert Lewandowski when the Poland star departs next year.Barca’s president thinks Haaland is a much better fit than Julian Alvarez – another rumored target
– and is said to be “optimistic” about the possibility of signing the Norway star.
Apparently Laporta is convinced that Haaland can be tempted away from Pep Guardiola’s side if they “continue to get such inconsistent result.” Manchester City have taken six points from their opening four games of the new season.
Unsurprisingly there’s no mention at all of how Laporta plans to afford a deal for the Manchester City man who, let’s not forget, signed a record 10-year-contract with the Premier League side back in January.
It’s also probably worth mentioning that Barcelona will hold elections in 2026, and Laporta has already announced his plans to run again.
