Hansi Flick was full of praise for Marcus Rashford after seeing the Manchester United loanee bag a brace in the Champions League win over Newcastle.
The German coach brought in Rashford over the summer on a season-long loan and revealed after the game how he made it clear to Deco that the England star was the player he really wanted.
“I told Deco this summer: ‘Please get me a player like Marcus Rashford…! Please!” he told reporters.
“I’m very happy to have him here. Rashford was an opportunity in the
transfer market and we had to take it. I’m glad we did.
“I spoke to him and said: ‘I need you in my team.’ This is a good step for Rashford. It will give him a lot of confidence.”
Rashford’s double were his first competitive goals for Barcelona, and he admitted after the game he’s hoping for plenty more as he bids to make an impact and potentially earn a permanent move.
