I’ve said it before, too. Heck, I’ll probably say it again soon.
“The Dallas Cowboys are a talented team.”
To be clear I believe this to be true. I think they have one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. They have arguably the best pass-catching duo in the league. Quinnen Williams is amazing. All of these things are true… on paper.
We have let paper guide us for a while now. I don’t mean to throw the paper away, to be clear. But we just watched the paper-based Dallas Cowboys drop a game at home,
as 9.5-point favorites, against a UDFA quarterback making his first road start on a short week. It is impossible that they lost. It is worse when you remember that they weren’t really close for most of the game.
It is time to throw the paper out. At least for a while.
When you drop the easiest of possible gimmes, you forfeit the right to have that benefit of the doubt applied to you. The Cowboys are “fortuante” to play in an NFC East this year that seems gettable, and maybe they will turn the tide after this mini bye and go on a little run. I know you laughed.
It is possible, though. And if it happens then we will all feel differently. So many people forget that opinions are allowed to change as information does, and right now the information is that this Cowboys team takes every moment where they have our trust and burns it up in flames. No more until they give something back themselves.
It is on them now. Earn it back.
