Remember last night? I’m trying not to. Feel like I got drunk and then someone hit me over the head with a brick. And then made me watch an Auburn football game.
After the ugliest and wackiest series of
drives I can recall in recent Mizzou Football history, the Tigers somehow walked away from Jordan-Hare Stadium with their sixth win of the season and their College Football Playoff hopes intact. Beating Auburn won’t get you into the field, but it keeps Mizzou within shouting distance while they search for their first real quality win.
And would you look at that? I think I see one in the near distance!
Mizzou vs. Vanderbilt next week will be, somewhat inexplicably, a game with College Football Playoff implications. A Mizzou win would give them a Top 10 road win over a QB with Heisman bonafides and only one loss to their name against potentially the best team in the conference. A win for Vanderbilt gets them yet another quality win (they’ve bagged a few already) and gives them some cushion with road trips to Texas and Tennessee coming up.
Can you honestly believe we’re talking about this, though? Mizzou and Vanderbilt duking it out for pole position at a CFP bid? With College GameDay in attendance?
