Having come on at half time, Raphaël Guerreiro continued his return from injury as he helped change the Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach for Bayern as a game that was a slog turned into a comfortable 3-0 win. He even scored a rare goal. Speaking after the match in an interview captured by @iMiaSanMia
, Guerreiro talked of his joy of playing in this team and the new role he has on the right.“Yeah, I of course enjoy being on the pitch and playing for Bayern a lot. I think the level
we have right now is really nice and every player can make the difference. It’s important to have that in the team,” Guerreiro said.
Asked about his and Karl’s similarly strong left foots, the former Borussia Dortmund defender grabbed the opportunity to praise the youngster: “Yeah, it’s something different when he takes the ball and shoots it. It’s just amazing to watch him. He’s done it in training, too, so it is not like it came from nowhere. He is training really hard and now everyone can see it.”
Asked about the difference about playing on the right, where Guerreiro lined up in this match, he became more contemplative: “I think sometimes it is better for me to play on the right side because when I get the ball I am always looking forwards and I receive the ball on my left foot to go inside. When we are all left footed on the right, it’s also nice sometimes. Lenny , me and Michael, we are trying to make some combinations and it was really nice.”
Smiling after being asked about Vincent Kompany’s contract extension at Bayern, Guerreiro was asked about the standout qualities of the Belgian manager: “I think his greatest quality is to be close with the players. He is also positive, though he will always say when things are not good, and I think he will bring the team to another level.”
Bayern Munich traveled to Borussia Mönchengladbach for a Bundesliga tilt featuring the league first-place and last-place teams.
The game went as expected — especially after Gladbach picked up an early red card, which completely shifted the momentum into Bayern Munich’s favor.
It was a daunting task to ask Gladbach to hold strong for over 70 minutes and eventually Die Fohlen just broke down. Ultimately, Bayern Munich walked away with a 3-0 victory over Gladbach.
